Start by understanding what the 50% actually is

At the time of writing, Raena Stones is running a "5 Year Anniversary Sale — 50% off, ends soon". Look across the catalogue and a pattern appears: every price range is exactly double at the top end.

Not approximately double — exactly. Every item, every category.

What that means for you is simple: judge the piece on the price you'll pay, not on the saving you're shown. A necklace at £42 is either good value for 14K gold-plated stainless steel with a natural stone, or it isn't. The £84 figure alongside it isn't doing any work in that decision.

It also means the codes above are stacking on top of an already-reduced price rather than on a full one. A 20% code takes that £42 necklace to £33.60. That's a real saving on a real price — just don't add it to the 50% and conclude you've saved 70%.

The clause that matters most on this page

Raena Stones' returns policy states that sale items are non-returnable.

Read that next to a catalogue where everything is currently marked at 50% off, and the implication is worth pausing on. If the sale price is what you paid, you may have no return right at all — and applying one of the coupon codes above makes that even harder to argue.

This isn't unique to Raena Stones; plenty of jewellery brands write the same clause. But most brands aren't running a catalogue-wide sale at the same time. "Free 60 day returns" — read the policy, not the banner

The site promotes free 60-day returns. The returns policy itself says: "we do not cover the shipping costs for returns/exchanges."

So the return window is genuinely generous at 60 days — double what most retailers offer, and considerably better than the 15 to 30 days common in this category. But you post it back at your own cost, and you carry the risk in transit: the policy notes that customers are responsible for items until they arrive, and that lost post isn't the company's responsibility. Keep proof of postage.

Other conditions worth knowing:

• Items must be unworn, with tags, in original packaging, with proof of purchase.
• Earrings and pierced jewellery cannot be returned or exchanged at all, for hygiene reasons. That's standard across the industry, but it means earrings are a final decision at the point of ordering.
• Gift cards are non-returnable.
• EU customers have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel for any reason.
• Refunds take up to 7 working days to reach your account after approval.

The lifetime warranty

Raena Stones advertises a lifetime warranty alongside the returns offer. This is the brand's most interesting claim, because the whole proposition rests on plating that doesn't wear: 14K gold-plated stainless steel, sold as waterproof and tarnish-resistant, meant to be worn permanently rather than taken off.

A warranty against tarnishing is exactly the right thing to offer if you believe your plating holds up. What we couldn't find is a published document setting out what it covers, for how long, and what voids it — the returns policy doesn't mention it.

If the warranty is part of why you're buying, email and ask for the terms before ordering. A brand confident in the claim will have an answer ready.

Free delivery starts at £56.67

An unusual number, and one that sits awkwardly against the price list. A single necklace at £42 doesn't reach it. Two bracelets at £29.50 each come to £59 and do.

Watch what a code does to that. A £59 two-bracelet order with 10% off drops to £53.10 — back under the threshold, and postage returns. With the 20% first-order code it falls to £47.20, further under still. On small orders here, the code and the delivery charge can cancel each other out entirely.

The fix is the same as always: apply the code, then look at the total including delivery, and compare that against the total without it.

Which code to take

• First order: the 20% newsletter signup code is the larger of the two and the obvious choice. It's also one use only, so spend it on the bigger basket rather than a single £27 ring.
• Returning customer: the 10% sitewide code is your route instead.
• Buying earrings: remember they can't be returned under any circumstances. If you're unsure about a style, that's the one category where getting it right first time is worth more than any percentage.
